What bin size and type do I need for my business?

REMONDIS offers a wide range of bin sizes and types to cater to the diverse waste management needs of businesses.

Some of the commonly offered bin sizes and types include:

Wheelie Bins: These portable and flexible bins are ideal for small to medium-sized businesses generating low to moderate amounts of waste. Available in a range of sizes including 120L, 240L, 660L and 1100L, wheelie bins can be easily moved and placed according to your business's requirements, ensuring you find the perfect fit for your general waste disposal needs

Front Lift Bins: Ideal for commercial and industrial applications, front lift bins provide a larger waste capacity than wheelie bins and maintain a fixed position for efficient waste management. Available in sizes such as 1.5m³, 3m³, and 4.5m³, these bins are designed to accommodate businesses with higher waste generation, offering a reliable and effective general waste disposal solution

Compactors: For businesses producing large amounts of compactable waste, compactors can be an efficient solution, helping to reduce waste volume and collection frequency. Compactors are available in various sizes and can be tailored to your specific needs

To determine the appropriate bin size and type for your business, consider factors such as the volume and type of waste generated, available space for bin placement, and the desired waste collection frequency. You can also consult with a REMONDIS waste management expert who will assess your business's requirements and recommend the most suitable bin solution for your needs.

FAQs about disposal to energy recovery at Kwinana Energy Recovery

What technology is used at Kwinana Energy Recovery?

Kwinana Energy Recovery generates electricity from thermal treatment. Residual solid waste from commercial and industrial sources is shredded then incinerated in a closed system which powers turbines to generate electricity.

Key power statistics:
At full operational capacity, Kwinana Energy Recovery will divert up to 460,000 tonnes of waste per annum from landfill and deliver 33+ megawatts of renewable baseload power to the Western Power grid.

Kwinana Energy Recovery is connected to the Southwest Interconnected System (SWIS) via Western Power. The export of 300,000 MWhrs per year will be managed through AEMO. The facility has been assigned 33.9MW of Capacity Credits and will produce Largescale Generation Certificates (LGC’s) from the biodegradable waste processed, expected to be ca. 150,000 Certificates annually.

Offtakes:
The processing of 460,000 tpa of waste will produce ca. 80,000 tpa of Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA). Processing refines the IBA to recover valuable Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals (ca. 13,000 tpa). Through sieving and blending this produces a well graded aggregate called IBAA (Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate). IBAA can be used as a construction material (eg. road subbase, retaining wall blocks) that reduces use of virgin material.

Projected key environmental metrics:

  • 460,000 tonnes of waste (Household, Commercial & Industrial) diverted from WA landfill annually
  • >400,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions reduced annually
  • >38MW of reliable baseload energy to be exported to the grid, equivalent to 85,000 cars off the road or >55,000 household electricity needs
