Springmount Waste Management Facility is a fully-licensed, fully-engineered, triple-lined landfill capable of receiving construction and demolition waste, commercial, industrial and municipal waste, asbestos and regulated waste. Springmount also is a Quarantine Approved Premise.

Council is committed to increasing the level of recycling within the shire, reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, ensuring responsible management of waste and limiting the cost of waste management.
The recyclables that are collected at the Mareeba Shire Waste transfer stations are transported to the Cairns material recovery facility where they are sorted for processing in secondary markets.
The only exception to this is glass where Cairns Regional Council has taken the decision to process and reuse this waste locally.
Mareeba Shire Council's kerbside waste is transported to the Remonds Springmount Facility for long-term storage.

Containers for Change Bag Drops in Kuranda, Mareeba and Dimbulah
Early morning drop-off locations are at the recycling station at the end of Ayara Street, Kuranda and end of the carpark at the Mareeba Heritage Museum and Information Centre, Mareeba.
Early evening drop-offs: Carpark opposite Junction Hotel, Raleigh Street, Dimbulah.
Keep containers in sturdy bags or boxes to ensure the containers stay together.
Tag it: Write your member number and name on any label and tag the bag.
Drop it: Leave your containers at the bag drop.

Grab a bargain at the Mareeba Buy Back Shop or donate good quality items to give them a second life instead of going to landfill.
Open Saturday, 10am – 1pm at the Mareeba Transfer Station.
Items can be delivered during the Mareeba Transfer Station opening hours, every day of the week.
To ensure your recyclables get recycled and don't end up in landfill, ensure that items are not bagged. All items should be clean, rinsed out, dry with lids removed.
Council has recycling stations at Mareeba, Kuranda, Jaáten, Dimbulah, Mutchilba, Chillagoe, Mt Molloy, Mt Carbine and Mt Isa. Transfer Stations. You can take your recyclables to these recycling stations at no charge.
