Especially for domestic waste, REMONDIS offers councils a comprehensive range of state of the art technologies and collection systems with modern waste management concepts focused on maximising recycling whilst reducing operational costs and waste to landfill.

As the company which introduced the 'wheelie bin' to Australia in 1982 for Penrith City Council, REMONDIS has continued its tradition of innovation in Australia by being first in Australia to use a one man, recycling-crate side-loading dual collection system in its partnership with Liverpool City Council.

REMONDIS offers Councils the following:

Kerbside collection systems
Waste stream assessments
Waste minimalisation and resource recovery strategies
Design, building and operating of processing and recycling facilities
Bulk waste collection services
Litter bin services
Sullage collection services

The System: Source Separated Collection

The first element is a 3-bin residential kerbside collection service for organics (50% of the domestic waste stream are made up of green and food waste), recyclables (20%) and residual refuse (approx. 30%).
The second element of the Source Separated Collection System are the integrated resource recovery facilities, such as a MRF for paper, co-mingled recyclables and resource recovery facilities for organic resources and residual waste.
The third element is the NO METHANE landfill, which generates lower operating and substantially reduced post closure costs by eliminating the disposal of organic waste.
The life of the NO METHANE inert landfill can be extended by up to 400%.
Assuming a waste generation of approx. 40,000 t/a, the disposal cost saving* of $30.- per tonne of domestic waste amount up to $1,200,000 per annum.
Multiplied over a 20 year contract period, the cost benefits of $24 million are substantial.
