| Purpose-built to suit Australian conditions,
the REMONDIS Organic Resource Recovery Facility (ORRF)
provides a fully-controlled processing solution that
enables over 43% (potentially up to 80%) of the total
waste stream to be efficiently diverted from landfill.
The REMONDIS ORRF brings together a range of tried
and tested sustainable processing technologies
in one centralised plant which has been purpose designed
and built to meet Australian waste management needs.
The REMONDIS ORRF has fast gained a reputation as one
of the most effective and efficient methods of reducing
waste-to-landfill. Operating in Australia since 2001,
this technology is delivering outstanding products to
the local horticultural and agricultural markets.
Constructed for Hastings Council on the New South Wales
mid-north coast, the first Australian REMONDIS ORRF
is located at the new Cairncross Waste Management Centre
and Landfill, some 15 kilometres to the north of Port
Macquarie. Forming the major component of Hastings Council's
plan to completely eliminate the disposal of waste-to-landfill
by 2020, the Cairncross facility has been designed with
a processing capacity of a minumum of 40,000 tonnes
of green organics and putrescible waste per year.
Effectively designed as two plants in one, the first
half of the REMONDIS ORRF processes green organics,
together with bio-solids from the Council's nearby Sewage
Treatment Plant, into high quality compost end products.
The second half of the plant separates and processes
mixed solid waste into two streams - namely a high calorific
value raw material for REMONDIS' proprietary Fuel Substitute
Generation (FSG) process, and a biologically
stabilised residual organic fraction which will in future
be used as daily cover at the nearby Cairncross Landfill. |
